he Ardabil carpet was commissioned by Shah Tahmasp around 1539-1540 for the shrine of his ancestor, Shaykh Safi al-Din, in Ardabil, Iran.
Considered one of the finest surviving Persian carpets, it is renowned for its immense size, intricate design, and historical significance, representing the Safavid dynasty's power.
The two original carpets were created in the 16th century, and one is now displayed at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, while its counterpart is at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.
